Have you considered checking out the local shelters? There are literaly thousands of pigs looking for a good forever home. Try here : https://www.petfinder.com/ Marci , in a shelter about 70 miles from me found the perfect pig and I was able to bring my pig over there and we tryed them...

    question about my pig...

A lot depends on your vet... generally they like Baytril or sometimes Doxycycline. Most of the human antibiotics are dangerous. Avoid anything based on penicillin and you might want to consider a pro-biotic.. yogurt will do in a pinch but isn't the best as pigs tend to be lactose intolerant...

    question about my pig...

I have to agree.... it sounds like vet time. While your working on getting to see the vet try to temp piggie with some nice fresh veggies and make she she/he gets enough water... But i cant stress enough that you should find a vet... even if maybe it turns out to be a non issue.

    Food

There is little your pig wont eat once she gets used to the idea. Most pet stores and may other places like shelters have to use mostly if not all pellets because they cant afford to feed much else. My Beav loves parsley... and he never says no to a carrot. Give her some time she will settle...

Oh no it is my turn now!!

I hate mites! My Beaver had mites and it took me longer then I liked to figure it out. The first time is always the roughest. Just wondering.... I have noticed that the Oral Ivmectin seems to be more popular these days , How effective is it and How do you figure the dose? Thanks Robert

    Just Had to Share

Sounds like great fun :) Piggies have such great personalities , something non piggie owners often have trouble understanding. But of course the pig personality also depends a whole lot of the piggie slaves too. Robert

    Hello :)

I seem to have missed posting in here totally... But IL fix that now. I'm Robert , Unlike a lot of people on the internet I tend to use my real first name.. Not a dig , just the way it is. I will be 45 in July and I live in New Jersey with my mate Debby and Our piggie Beaver. I will post his...

    Dying Cow

I don't know a lot about cows but that one doesnt look good. If this was a pig I would be well beyond concerned. I think its great of you to care about this cow... but of course you have to look out for your family. The think most of the rules regarding livestock really are really bad...

    Stones

Thanks Albert. I'm still confused about the causation of stones. I know it relates to diet but it seems it doesnt even have to be currant diet... I think that the stone can just suddenly fall off. Robert

Pepper and Duncan won't stop fighting!

I have read that the dominant pig will starve a lesser pig to get the ladies to himself... In a recent case a friend of mind have a father and son pair together and the mum and sister in a cage with a common wall... they all sorta came down with mites and the father got weak enough that the...

    These pigs can jump!!

I have seen Beaver jump his dish a few times... Its the landing that worries me. So far he lands OK.. but there is always a chance he will mess it up. Otherwise he doesnt seem interested in climbing out of his cage.... Robert

    Stones

Once we find that our pigs have stones its rather up to the Vet at that point. But before the onset of stones I have read that these things can be some help in preventing stones... but of course no guarantee. Cranberry Juice. Seems that It might be some help with Urinary tract health... Not...

    Thunder storms

We are at the part of the year where we just seem to get a lot of thunder storms. For myself it isn't an issue But Beaver seems to get pretty nervous and I have heard of pigs literally getting scared to death. We live on the shore and are back against the mountain and the thunder tends to roll...

    Questions without answers

I have never been able to understand the way some people treat their furry friends. My pigs and every other pet i have been owned by have always been a member of my family. I have found that while there are some very nice people in my state... there are a lot more people that dont come...

    I want another piggie!!!

Interesting question , I rather suspect your dad wants to see how responsible you are before you get another pig. Have you considered looking for a local shelter? There are probably millions of shelter pigs that need a good home. I dont like the Idea of neutering a pig.... Consider getting...
