I can only assume that you didn't read the entire thread. Or perhaps you just need to have the last word since you're a moderator.
I'm sure you've all been up nights, worrying about the health of my poor mistreated guinea pigs. Well, you can all rest easy and take Guinea Pig Protective...
Thanks again. I sometimes buy fresh wheat grass for myself so it makes sense on all kinds of levels to grow it at home. I'm a 100% sustainable, organic, chemical free gardener with both vegetables and ornamentals. Most of our plant based diet, pigs included, comes from our own garden from...
Thank you so much for the practical suggestion! I do give them grass from our garden (and clover) every single day. I mentioned it earlier but no one suggested it was a good option. Oh, yeah, except for my vet who apparently shouldn't be trusted. (Excuse the snarkiness... this thread has...
What my vet, a Purdue graduate who has been treating animals for forty years, said was that as long as the cube didn't contain filler and was comprised of 100% long-strand fiber, then it was a perfectly viable substitute. I'm so frustrated. Forgive me for trusting my veterinarian who has cared...
Thank you so much for the link, Lissie!! I will check it out. I'll try anything for the sake of those little furry muffins. Although I'm a life-long animal lover (we also have two dogs and a cat, and I've had many little furry rodents over the years) I had NO idea I would adore these little...
Thank you, RodentCuddles! Oxbow claims their cubes contain 100% long-strand timothy hay but, again, I don't know how I would go about proving or disproving that. I do have a great friend who has a seven year old sow who has only ever had cubes as one of her children have an anaphylactic...
Lissie, I appreciate the advice. I just began this conversation in another thread as I know this is a 'hot button' issue. The cubes I use contain 100% long-strand Timothy hay, no fillers, preservatives, etc. Our vet is happy with their teeth and their droppings. I am hyper vigilante with the...
Thank you, everyone. I use the Oxbow cubes which have no added ingredients... they are 100% Timothy hay. They claim to contain nothing but the long-strand fibers and state that they are nutritionally identical to loose hay. Perhaps I will just pay the money to have the hay cubes tested for...
Hi folks!
I am a proud mommy to two gorgeous boars, Donny and Walter. The boys joined our family in April of this year, about six months ago. We just adore them. I am meticulous about how I feed and care for my cavies. I feed them organic, often locally sourced, fruits and veg, and the...
I am HIGHLY (like, violently) allergic to the loose hay. I use hay cubes instead. My piggies are healthy and happy and the clean up is a snap. And my throat doesn't close when I love on my babies, so that's good, too! lol
