    Naming your Guineas

I remember for a really long time before getting my piggy I thought I was gonna name her Taco. On the same day my parents had said "You know, Emma, we might just get a guinea pig some time," we went to the park after. I got on the swings with my mom and I just enthused to her about how excited...

Allergies Do people with bad asthma cope with GP's?

Hey! I have asthma. It's not too serious, but my dad's is, and since I'm still a teenager and still live with my parents, this was a big factor when we started considering me and my dad's allergies and asthma. But! Before I got my guinea pig Clover I did a lot of research and discovered...

    Scratching Please read! Patches!

Hello! My guinea pig Clover is very healthy and happy. However.. She has hairless patches on her shoulders (not the ones behind her ears) where she scratches- some of them have developed scabs and are raw. Whenever I find them I apply Neosporin. I think the reason for this is that she...

    Eyes/Non-crusty Please read! Cloudy eye!

Hello! If you know my user you'll know I recently got a new piggy- Clover. Clover seems very happy and healthy. She loved to be cuddled and doesn't have discharge or anything of the sort. I have noticed though that it looks like she has a cataract in her left eye. There isn't any discharge...

What breed? Poll: What breeds do you have?

I have one female baby Teddy named Clover. Apparently there are two types of Teddies- Teddies and silk teddies, silk teddies having soft, plushy fur as opposed to rough fur. I have a silk Teddy and she's more than I ever could've asked for. She has the best temper and loves to be snuggled. She's...

    Behavior shivers??

Hi! My guinea pig Clover does the same thing. I think guinea pigs just do that naturally. I would guess if she's churning as you pet her its probably a sign she's enjoying it. :) Hope this helped. :)

    Pellet bedding?

Hi! I finally got my guinea pig and named her Clover. :) She's the sweetest thing. She's a teddy and is three months old, white with light brown patches. She's got a great temperament and is perfect in every way. But I have a question- they don't sell CareFresh here so I use Cats Universal, a...

General Pet sitting two pigs with fungus?

Just continue what you're doing. Wash your hands after each time you come in contact with either of the piggies, whether you touch one's ear at all. It's quite likely that the other piggy has picked it up by now, and so you need to be very careful with both of them. Wash your hands well with...

    Behavior Signs of stress?

That all sounds like she may very well be sick. Even though it seems like she might just be stressed, I would still go ahead and take her over to a vet, just to be sure. I say this all the time whenever I reply to a post, but I'll say it again- this is all my opinion and it's totally your...

General wanting to adopt a female....concerned! advice?

There are only four possibilities- The mommy piggy may die during birth and the baby might be a stillborn The mommy may die but the baby will survive The baby will survive and the mom will die Both of them will survive It's your decision. You can risk it for the last one, but unfortunately...

    Bathing Batheing

O, gosh- I meant to type in "I'll bathe my guinea pig..." not "I bathe my guinea pig..". :/

    Bathing Batheing

Just reading, researching, exploring and finding out everything about guinea pigs makes me see that every once in a while they should be bathed, just like any other animal. As for 7, I bathe my piggy every 5-6 months, but seeing as though other people on this thread are against bathing guinea...

General Is This Bedding Plan A-OK?

Is sawdust ok if I'm 100% sure it's not at all dusty? :/

    Bathing??

Good! Ferret shampoo is an excellent choice for your guinea pig when guinea pig shampoo itself is unavailable. The powder kind can irritate your piggy's skin, but liquid ferret shampoo should work just fine. Just be careful not to get it in their eyes and it's a near-perfect choice. :) Wishing...

General Is This Bedding Plan A-OK?

Thank you all! Now I need to know about the question about sawdust. Answers highly appreciated. If anyone has more to say regarding the first bedding plan question, please feel free to still answer it as well. :)

    Bathing Batheing

Regardless of what others say, your guinea pig must be bathed at least once every seven months. Unlike wild guinea pigs, pet guinea pigs spend all day dragging their bodies through their old poop and pee. As for bathing your younger piggy, don't use shampoo or anything. It's best to just go over...

General Is This Bedding Plan A-OK?

This is a quick, simple question regarding bedding. I'm planning on doing this: Step 1: Lay old newspapers down on the bottom of the cage Step 2: Fill with pine pellet bedding Step 3: Add a top layer of hay Is that okay? Are all of those beddings safe? Also, I was wondering if sawdust was okay...
