I'm not sure but my guinea pig was coughing last night. She was making these small noises and doiing a forward full body jerk. It reminded me of when my cat had a hairball. Was that just coughing or is it something more serious?
 
It could be coughing. She may have gotten something stuck in her esophagus, or she could be coming down with a respiratory illness like bordatella. Keep a close eye on her, and if you see any other signs of illness, get her to a good vet ASAP.
 
She seems ok now, she hasn't made any more worrying sounds. She was having dinner at the time, probably just got some hay stuck.
