    Cats kept in cages?

Baaah what! "Can't be trusted alone". rather it is people's convenience to cage a cat so it doesn't damage their perfect house. Cats scratch, get over it :| People shouldn't get a cat. I can't really believe any one who has seen a cat shooting up a tree or sunning themselves could keep a cat in...

UK Desperate mouse situation - homes needed!

Last week my friend said someone near me (in Great Malvern) has a lot of mice from a rescue of about 900 so I'm presuming this is the same case. If she is going to get some I might be tempted to take a few too...:D Hopefully they can all find good homes.

Veg*n Hey, I have found out a lot - thanks to omnivores

"Anywayz - in Britain, the average person consumes 11,047 animals in their lifetime." Let's round to 11,000, shall we. Say I live to 78, as is the average life expectancy in the UK. That calculates as approx. 141 animals a year, 11 animals a month, 2.75 animals a week. I don't think so...

Veg*n Hey, I have found out a lot - thanks to omnivores

Do you have sources of this information? Who worked out that vegetarians save an acre of forest, or omnivores are 9x more likely to be obese? :/ If I went back to being veggie, I wouldn't save an acre of forest... because I don't eat meat that was produced in a rainforest atm. I honestly don't...

    Veg*n Ice Cream

*shudder* I do believe demand will outstrip supply-if they actually swapped. Which they obviously won't. Who even thought of that anyway. :eye-poppi It's just as "un natural" as (in their eyes) drinking cows milk is...

    Forages Fresh grass and dandelions?

Yep, you can give them the flowers. You should rinse it all off just to be safe, although if (as you should) you're picking them where they are clean and haven't been near other animals or pesticides, they should be OK. :) As jabberwock said, grass is great every day as it's very nutritious and...

    Outdoors questions...

The soil would be fine to use. Lettuce and bell peppers would be good choices. I'd also plant some carrots as they're quite easy, and maybe a couple of tomato plants. I guess it depends on your piggies favourite veggies! Not sure what you mean exactly by the termite things? I don't really know...

    Australia What bedding is safe?

I think hay/newspaper is fine actually, as long as you change it often so it doesn't stay wet. Perhaps not straw though as that can sometimes poke in their eyes. Stay away from woodshavings, even ignoring the studies about their problems, the smell of them is horrible imo, especially as pigs...

    Hay UK Timothy hay

(broken link removed) I saw this in my local Countrywide store. I wasn't quite sure if it was actually hay but looking on the website, it sounds like it's good quality Timothy. So it would be great news for people in the UK as hay I've had before it generally brown and stemmy. It was about £7...

    Skinny pig breeding

They were bred from inbred laboratory guinea pigs with a genetic mutation in the 70's, and as a result they have a weaker immune system. Wikipedia specifies that "Skin cancer, upper respiratory infections, and internal problems are all extremely common."

    Fighting Guinea Pigs. Please Help!

It sounds like normal piggy behaviour.. What you're describing sounds like the mounting one is asserting her dominance on the other. You don't need to keep them separated unless blood is drawn and at the moment it sounds quite normal. I think their little chuntering noise as they wiggle around...

Wow! So many new faces...er... names!

Hehehe, it's like the GPC reunion, I haven't posted for ageees but lurk occasionally. After being pigless for a few months I'm debating getting some more, so need to dust off the cobwebs =D I remember your name Kriket but haven't seen BG for ages, or JenG.

    Hurricane Gustov

Good luck VJ, Haley, and anyone else affected. I really really hope you guys are going to be okay. Take care of yourselves. VJ, it must be super hard for you to experience the hurricane and then get back to rescuing all the poor animals left behind. I wish you luck with that, but do...

    UK UK Veggie Variety

I'm pretty sure all the green/fresh greens are types of cabbage. they went down very well when I had pigs. You're not supposed to feed them too much cabbage though. and if one of your pigs seems to suffer from gas a lot you should probably go easy on it. What about sprouts/tops, broccoli/ leaves...

    Nevelle and Darwin

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's heart breaking when one piggy dies but two must be awful. The lyrics were soo sad. but try and fill the 'empty space' with all the memories of them both =) I can't think anyone could have given Darwin a better second chance. I remember my first piggies Bodger...
