This person doesn't appear to be a breeder, and it would be great if the babies got as far away from this woman and her "humor" as fast as possible! So do I flag, respond and ask her to rephrase her post, or simply ignore it??

I agree that she doesn't seem like a breeder, they don't usually have any kind of explanation or story, so I don't think you should flag it. If you are worried then send her an email, if you do, then also let her know that asking for a rehoming fee would help keep them from becoming snake food.

I believe she lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. I do think I may be overreacting, but making a comment about garbage disposals doesn't bode well for the piggy she does keep, methinks. Like you stated, angie901, she just doesn't seem to care...

I don't really see anything wrong with it. She's obviously joking, which is slightly inappropriate.
But otherwise I don't understand the issue apart from them being free. My pigs are wonderful garbage disposals when it comes to leftover veggies as well.

Yes. I agree. I'm trying to look for free piggies cause I don't have much money right now so I'm just looking for free guinea pigs around were i'm moving cause I would like to get back on owning guinea pigs.

Yeah. I'm not sure anyone who cares about guinea pigs would buy them because of her garbage disposal comment.

Just make sure you have a good vet fund in place at all times before adopting.
And if you do see free pigs you yourself can't adopt, advice the owners to set a reasonable rehoming fee to keep snake owners away.

I think she was trying to be funny. Some people toss out tons of veggies so she's just suggesting to feed it to them. I'd contact her and suggest she ask a small rehoming fee, though.

omg, the one on the bottom looks just like my little Smore!

I offer my piggies all kinds of random odds and ends that we don't eat -- corn silks and husks, bits of watermelon rinds, things like that. I think that's all she meant by "garbage disposal."

(Am I the only one bothered more by how he is holding those piggies?)

I really think someone should tell that person to have a price for them minimum $20 for one

OMG, I totally didn't get the joke- the woman is suggesting the guinea pigs would be useful AS garbage disposals. But still... I just now wrote her to ask that she charge a rehoming fee, and explained why (very nicely and briefly). I will let you all know if I hear back or see that the post changes.

For her sake I hope they're both girls so the mother doesn't end up pregnant!! Or if it's a boy & girl who get re-homed to someone clueless, they could have issues too!!
