hardware cloth and PVC pipe lid on C&C cage - Guinea Pig Cages

I used 1/2" PVC pipe and elbows, etc. to make a frame to put the 1/4" hardware cloth on.
It's a very stable and lightweight lid. No sagging, etc.
The lip in front and in the back make it more difficult for my toddler to push it off but is very easy to remove as long as you are taller than
Looks like you really spent some time on that lid. =) It looks nice, what exactly are you keeping out of the cage?

My toddler is the one that I am trying to keep out but I also used a similar lid on my outdoor tortoise enclosures and know that it can support a 10 pound cat sleeping on it.
I just stuck the pipes and elbows together (no glue) and cable tied the hardware cloth on top so it didn't take terribly long at all.
Thanks for the nice comment!

That's a great idea! In order to keep the cage lid in place as your toddler grows, try using velcro cable cuffs. They are easy to take on and off for you, but would help keep your child from pushing the lid off from below.
