Bedding Paper towels are helpful for bedding

Hello everyone! I have 2 piggies and I would like to share what I use for their bedding.
When I clean their cage, I put a bit of newspaper down. Then I get some paper towels and lay them on top of the newspaper. It is completely safe for the guinea pigs because it causes no harm, they will realise that it doesn't taste as good as other things and they will quickly move on. It is really absorbent and their cage won't be as wet when you clean it out. Let me know what you think of this! :)

Newspaper smells really quickly, and there are quite a few better beddings that will give better odor control. Also, the way you're doing it, your guinea pigs will always have wet feet and may develop bumblefoot, which can be very stubborn to cure.

I don't put the paper towel where they are the most

Paper towel is very cheap where I am!

Nevertheless, you're risking bumblefoot if you house your pigs on any kind of paper (other than paper pellets, which are far more absorbent). If you don't want to think about the health of your pigs' feet, think about how much time and money it's going to take you to treat them.

I'm really sorry, I'm looking at paper pellets now!!!!!!!

Yes, those are fine, but horse stall bedding is far cheaper and more absorbent, if you can find some that doesn't smell strongly of pine. It cost me about $16 for nine months use of bedding, and I could have gone longer except that I had to move the cage.

@Candalalala lol they will popcorn forever :tearsofjo:tearsofjo

I DO NOT USE PAPER TOWELS FOR BEDDING ANYMORE
I have done some research and read the comments, and I changed their bedding to wood shavings (which are safe for them) and paper pellets. Thanks for everybody's help, I hope they will like their new cage!

Please go on to 'Other' and go onto the hamster cage video thread :)

I have a question for anybody that would be of help- should I have two sets of fleece bedding?

I just got my new cage yesterday (yay!) my guinea pigs love it and were doing zoomies until they went to sleep. When I wash their fleece bedding, should I have an extra set so I don't have to keep them out of the cage until the fleece is washed?

If there are suggestions on what I should do, please let me know!

Generally most of us who use fleece will have more than one set. It makes things a lot easier as that way you don't strictly have to wash the dirty set and get it dry right away, and you can get the guinea pigs back in their cage much faster.

Alright, thanks. I'll get some more soon.

Paper towels are helpful for bedding This is my new cage! Sorry if it's upside down...

Looks good! How have your girls liked their new cage so far?

They love it! When I first put them in there I thought they were going to explode.
Also, Honey (the one on the bottom level) has been pushing Sweetheart down the ramp, I feel really bad because I can't do anything about it... other than that they've never been better.

I use layers of white towels under the fleece. Absorbant and doesn't smell quickly and I can see if there's any trouble with their urine and need to be on alert

Could someone please help me?

My guinea pigs have chewed quite a bit of the burlap flags (not the decorations or the glue) is that toxic for them?
