Is there a way to follow a topic, or get a notification when someone replies to your topic?

Yes there is - and you don't need Tapatalk.
1. Go to "My Account" along the top of this page
2. Go to "My Subscriptions" along the left sidebar.
3. Click "Subscriptons"

It will show you all the threads you have posted on. Just check the box next to "Instant" under "Notifications" and you will be notified when it is posted to.
