Well, a lot of you here know about my little Christmas pig, Sly. He is now a senior pig and has had some health issues but all things considered he is doing very very well.
My question is more for those that have experience with senior pigs.
I have noticed that as Sly has gotten older (this has really been in the last 6 months) his rump seems to have gotten, for lack of a better term, bonier. His hips and back feel more pronounced, and it just seems to me that he feels more frail.
His weight is still great (he is currently just over 1300 grams)
I noticed the same thing happening with Pooper in the 6 months prior to his passing, but he had gotten ill and even though he was doing well, he still passed in October. His little heart just stopped and he went very peacefully.
Do those of you with, or have had, senior pigs notice the same things happening? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything and that this is a normal progression. He had his last vet checkup 2 1/2 weeks ago and got a clean bill of health.
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
