Pine and hay?
Hi, Living in Australia, I'm finding it very hard to find proper bedding for my gippigs, but i have managed to find an aussie internet pet supplier who has pine shavings! I have read the articles that point out the dangers of pine and cedar, but i also read (i think it was on one of the posts, but can't find it now) that if i put a layer of hay over the pine shavings, this should be safe? Is this true?
If i were to do this, i would most probably put a layer of newspaper on the bottom, then with the pine and then hay...At the moment, i am just using a layer of newspaper, with shredded paper and hay.
I am not sure whether the pine shavings are kiln dried or not, but am waiting on the reply from the supplier - if it is not kiln dried, i will absolutely not be using it.
Any replies would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
