So, because Lola was quarantined at the rescue centre (where I volunteer, so I know it's to a good standard) I plunged for introductions today. Read loads about it so went with all recommendations: neutral territory, etc.
It's been two nerve wrecking hours and I'm in tears :weepy: It's so horrible to see Lola being chased, mounted, nipped, head butted and the squealing is so hard. I understand this is part of normal behaviour whist establishing ranks again but it's so hard.
There has been a lot of on and off teeth chattering and raised hackles especially from my two top sows (they are both very dominant and I don't think they have managed to sort it out between themselves). After this there is usually a chase/ mounting and I believe nips on the back (no blood as far as I can see but a LOT of squealing).
Lola is being subservient and not fighting back but they still chase her with raised hackles. In the chasing sometimes both Itsy and Bitsy bump into each other and have a bit of a scuffle too.
Very surprising also, my under sow, Dahlia actually showed her teeth to Lola's butt and also teeth chattered for a bit (mostly she keeps out of the other two way).
Is this all normal? How long should it last and how do I know she has been accepted? I'm not looking forward to night time when I have to go to bed and leave them unwatched.
