Australia Spaying/Neutering Pigs

I just had my boar neutered a few weeks ago and it cost me $75.
That included a follow up check 10 days later to have the stitch's removed.

You can ring up your vet and they will quote you over the phone but usually pig's need to be atleast 4 months old before they will do it (my vet said)
If you are looking from a shelter, they are usually allready done before you take them home anyhow.

That's not bad considering he had 2 consultations and physical's.

If you ring your local shelter, they usually do it cheaper but mine was a hour drive so I didn't bother.

Neutering of boars in Sydney can cost anywhere from $70-$130, I would think that having a female spayed would be more expensive, as it is a more delicate operation with higher risks.

Where abouts in Australia do you live?

$75 is cheap!!
It cost me $105 to get my boy done.

You think that's bad? I got quoted $185 to get my boar neuterd! Where did you get it done for $75?

I haven't. But I probably won't get that girl. She was a cute little sow.

Just to let you know, the 75 dollars would likely include anesthetising the pig, observation, pain killers and a follow up consultation as well as the snip

Yes that's right, the $75 was all inclusive.
I had him done at my local vet in Outer Melbourne, if you would like to know more I'd be happy to give you their contact details, they are very good with pigs and rabbits except for calling him a female on the bill/invoice, HaHa.

I said that it was expensive because, well... I only have about $20!

I was going to get mine neutered, they wanted $225!

Guess what people! Getting my boar neutered next tuesday for $75.
