Hi all,

I've been on the cube hunt for a week now and it's starting to look bleak.
So far I've been to Mitre 10 Mega, Bed Bath & Beyond, Farmers, The Wharehouse, Payless Plastics, Briscoes, KMart, Stevens, Spotlight and McDonalds (that was just for a frozen coke though) in Waitakere.

As the title denotes, has anyone seen these being sold somewhere recently?

:weepy:

OMG you really made me laugh with your McDonalds stop. When I read McDonalds I had to read it again thinking to my self.... "why would McDonalds have any crates?" Do you have a Home Depo near you or a meijer?

Unfortunately no, we don't have either of those stores in NZ.

got it the site is via this link:

Their website is Wire Design and Manufacturing Specialists - Eagle Wire Products Ltd and if you click on 'baskets' and scroll down you'll see the cubes. Just contact them direct if you don't see what you are looking for.

let us know what you come up with!
I have a recently made a contact for corflute (NZ equivalent for coroplast).

After some shopping around this weekend I came up with a couple of options, I found coated wire shelves at Payless Plastics, they were actually pretty good as they came in long and short lengths and didn't have the lip I've seen on a lot of others.

But then I managed to find a lone Cube set on Trademe (NZ equivalent of ebay or craigslist) and won them for $26NZD. Unfortunately the seller's in Christchurch so paying postage sucked.

Side story, my brother-in-law is an American and we paid a visit to a company that imports American brand snack foods over the weekend, so he could stock up on chex mix and goldfish crackers, and guess what they were using for holding stock? Wire cube storage boxes.

WTF.

Had I not gotten mine the day prior, I would forever be remembered there as the weird chick who tipped out all the baby ruths and tried to buy their display shelving.

Thank you all so much for your tips and ideas. :)

Lisa Marie, what is the name of this company please?

I'd like to contact them to see if they can import proper guinea pig pellets, if they already import goldfish crackers they should be able to bring in and stock Oxbow and Kleenmama's as they are also manufactured pet foods.

Wouldn't that be Great?!❤️

The store is called Martha's Backyard, it's in Mt Wellington. Here's the link to their website Martha's Backyard they mention 'for your pets' on their so you might have a chance.

As for stores holding grids I am told (don't know haven't been there)
that Daiso Japan 291 - 297 Queens street in Auckland should have grids - and a big variety of grids to choose from.

Lisa Marie perhaps you could sleuth that for the rest of us and let us know; it was first mentioned in a post from way way back so it might be relevant to have news on it that is more current.

and thanks I contacted the American store and she will look into bringing Kleenmama's and Oxbow into NZ for us!! YAY

Fingers crossed..... you'd think though that with Critical Care from the same company (Oxbow) already in the country we should stand a chance... all the products are available in Australia already so its possible, surely hopefully possible... I will give it my best shot.

I ordered mine on kmarts website, instead of paying the shipping I did the pick up in store option. It was super easy, and the best deal because kmart sells the 6 cube set instead of 4 like all the others I've found. I would check their website and see if you can get that option, I don't know if it's offered everywhere.

Hi Kiwi Cavy Adorer
I am thinking of making a c and c cage, if I can find the right stuff here in NZ. How much would the corflute be for a 2x4 cage? And can you get the stuff in Auckland? I am also after the cubes if you know of any!
Thanks
