Hey...

I'm so scared and stressed out now. For the past 2 days, I cant hear out of my left ear, and not much out of my right. I am TERRIFIED of doctor's. I'm 14 yrs old. And last year, I had trouble hearing too, and I went to my doctor(I don't like her), and she cleaned out my ear, and I was in EXCRUCTIATING (sp) pain, I was screaming and crying, it hurt so bad. And from then on, I can't even have people touch my ear, I hate things going in there. And next wednesday, I have an ear appointment with an ENT- (ear, nose and throut doctor.) I"m terrified. I can't stop thinking about it. I've never been there before. My mom dosent help..she's just like" Suck it up, you have to get through it!! STOP WORRING YOURSELF!!" I mean, it's not my fault. I don't want to go through that pain again. I don't even know if the doctor I'm going to will h urt me, I just can't deal with the pain. I don't know what to do. I know that I need to get my hearing back, and I wannt it!!! I can hear some, but not much. I just don't know how I'm gonna get through the doctors appointment. :-( I'm so scared.

Give me some advice on how to get though it, and if any of you guys have gone though the same experience. Has anyone here been to an ENT?

I'm just very sensative.

Sorry this post is so long.

Hmm. I don't really know much about your problem. Do you know what it's called?

Probably your mom won't like me saying this, but in my experience with traditional 'western' doctors they don't always know best. I've often found that by doing my own comprehensive research on a subject, I can end up knowing a lot more than most doctors/specialists I've seen. If I want to know something, I go on the internet and look at official websites and read the results of scientific studies. I'm not saying going to quack websites or people who are just trying to sell you something.

Sometimes natural methods are far less damaging and much more respectful of your body than traditional 'western' methods. If your body is in excrutiating pain, it's telling you that something's wrong and you're right to listen to it. It's your body and you don't have to do anything just because someone tells you to, even if you are still living at home. There are many different kinds of doctors out there. Naturopaths, chinese medicine doctors etc. and there are probably many different kinds of cures for any number of problems.

If you do end up going to your appointment, you might want to ask your mom to give you some painkillers to take ahead of time. Or maybe the doctor has something to numb your ear so it doesn't hurt so much.

What are you talking about? Western doctors?

You know, 'western' = 'regular' doctors as opposed to 'eastern' (chinese) doctors. I'm just trying to say there's many different kinds of doctors who will have different ways to solve your problem. Not saying to get ear coning, mind you, that's dangerous. Mmm. Nevermind...maybe the doctor you go to can give you eardrops instead of manually cleaning out your ears...

Hey, I feel for you, and I hope it goes ok, but don't let them do anything you don't want, because ya know, it's you, not them, so don't let tham do that if it hurts that bad, or just like try to do what you think is right. sorry I can't help you anymore than that, ...

i hate going to doctor's appointments that hurt!!! oh well, if you tell the doctor you've had previous problems maybe they'll help you or i suggest that you ask if you can have a pain killer.
