Ratties Rat has bugs!

Please someone help I don't know what to do!

It sounds like fleas. I do not know of a safe flea treatment for rats. A call to your vet is your best option.

I am going to call the vet and see if she knows what they are.

Those little brown bugs would be rat lice. You will need to see a vet and he will prescribe you some Ivermectin with a correct doseage based on weight. Or, you can do like a lot of rat owners are now doing and get some Frontline or Advantage (NOT Advantix) and put ONE DROP of the stuff on the back of the neck/shoulder area. I use this with my rats and have not had a problem with mites or lice ever since. Typically these bugs get in on bedding bought from Pet stores. Good luck !

Thanks ThreeLittlePigs. I called the vet and she told me that it was lice. Then she told me where to get invermectin and how much to give.

Well I just game Zero(my rat) the invermectin, hopefully it will work!
