I understand that Guinea Pigs can eat pumpkin 1-2 times a week. My guineas never had it before but since we are carving our pumpkins (at the last minute) I was wondering what part of the pumpkin can they eat?

I know they can't eat the seeds but is it the

inside gooey stuff? Or the outer orange part of the pumpkin they can have?

I have 10 guinea pigs. Surely, I'll be lucky to get at least one guinea willing to try it.

:]

The hard flesh is what you want to give. They can choke on the inside stuff, and its really messy!
So, the yummy orange part- not the gooey stuff :)
i hope you get some luck and that some of your piggies will like it! Im trying pumpkin today also! :)

I'm going to carve a pumkin now and I'm going to let my piggies try it too- we'll see how they like it. Thanks for the great idea!

This may seem like a silly question but are their different types of pumpkins? Species?

Because since most my babies loved the pumpkin, I was thinking buying a pumpkin once a month as a little treat but year around, I only see the little orange pumpkins verses the big carving pumpkins. Are these suitable?

Duffinvt - I may have to try try that too!

They will probably like the little orange ones better. Carving pumpkins don't taste as well as the little ones (which are used to make pumpkin pie). I would just steer clear of the tiny ones that are commonly painted and such.
