Adopting Need a friend for Fluffy

I want to get a friend for Fluffy. I I want to get a friend for Fluffy. I know that I can get either another female or a fixed male, does age of new one matter? Fluffy will be about 4 mo. when we're ready to adopt (beginning of August) And yes, I plan on a rescue. I've read about quarantining and introducing. Is there anything else I should know? How much more work is a second? They will be living in a 2x4 cage I plan to build. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
