So, a while ago our guinea pigs had this really sticky stuff in their fur (we had to give them a soak to get it out) and they were using Aspen bedding, well, we ran out of Aspen and used a different substrate and the sticky stuff didn't come back. BUT We got more aspen the other day, cleaned there cage, and we found some of the sticky stuff in Oakley's fur today!!! My sister (who owns Oakley) came to me just now and came up with the idea that maybe the Aspen is causing this to happen... Any ideas on if the bedding is causing this or not?:confused::confused:

You've got males, right? It's boar glue (dried semen). It's perfectly natural, and is the stickiest stuff known to man. Just leave it alone. You can cut it out unless it's really close to the skin. Then, you'll have to let the hair grow a few days before you can cut it.

They will get rid of it easier then we can, I only picked it off the face area if it was plugging the nose. They will barber it off and the nasty boar will apply it again.....It wis well worth the reason of getting them fixed. I had 4 boars, 2 neutered and 2 intact, the 2 intact were very messy.

Having them neutered doesn't keep that from happening, BTW.

Huggle does not hump anyone anymore since he got fixed and he had a major problem with leaving boar glue on other pigs.

Then you're lucky. Some of them keep right on going.

If they are humping and no glue comes out, its not so bad. Huggle went from a bully pig to a boar the girls put down if he shows his stuff, they just lay down the law on him. maybe its because he is with girls and the last boar died of old age. but even when knock knock was still alive and it was two neutered boars and 4 sows there was no humping or fighting from him anymore.
