Hi All,

I am looking to build a new cage for some rescue guinea pigs we have at the moment. We have 5 girls and 2 boys. Our space is 1.5metres x 2.3metres. In feet this is: 4ft 11inches x 7ft 6 inches.

I am thinking of having a separate cage which is 2x4 - 2x5 on top of the girls cage for the boys only. Would the 2.3 x 1.5metres be enough for the girls for a bottom cage? What size cage do you think I could build in that space?

I am aware it is a tight space, we rescue guinea pigs and are at maximum at the moment so need to reorganize the C&C cages we have.

Thanks for any advice.

You have plenty of space. If you plan to add more girls, go with the biggest cage you can fit in the space.

I'd put the girls on top and the boys on the bottom. That way, there's no danger of a randy male crawling out of his cage and falling in with the girls.

Great Thank You!

Would a 2x6 be large enough for the girls?
