I'm the new human companion of two adorable male guinea pigs adopted from a shelter, and wanted to share a small tip I had figured out. I live in a tiny studio, with my piggies about 3 feet from me. The piggies have been making some noise at night, wandering around in their cage, rustling in their cardboard hideouts, and shaking their water bottle and hay rack. For the first few nights I was using earplugs, but I've now found a better solution: I've started running my air filter on high, producing enough white noise to cover up their noise and let me sleep. This has the added benefit of removing smells and allergens in the air.
