Cage Idea For A Large Cage

Have you looked at this site's cool cage pictures? If you look on this page: https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/threads/71362-Let-s-see-your-cage-Pictures-please/page102 you will see the coroplast goes inside of the cage bars. It is bought as one straight sheet and you cut and score it to...

Behavior Tell me about your new pigs' behavior/experience

Thanks - I had ordered some grids that are frosty plastic which arrived Friday and rebuilt their cage with them, while adding some over the top to provide an extra feeling of cover. This and rearranging the cage does seem to make the shy one stay out of the hidey and relax, but he still doesn't...

Behavior Tell me about your new pigs' behavior/experience

I adopted two adult boys earlier this week and while I know that it has only been a few days, some of their behavior makes me want to know about your experience with new pigs activity. What did they act like at first with you and how long do you think it took yours to behave comfortable and...

Frustrated Thinking about giving them up

If you keep your pigs and take good care of them, since they only have you to rely on, then you know they will be safe, healthy, happy, etc. If you try to give them away, again as you said they've been moved a lot, then you contribute to their homeless cycle, never knowing if they will end up...

Cage Let's see your cage Pictures please.

I just picked up these 2 boys this week and put together this 2x5 cage for them (they were in a 2x3 with the previous owners). The white grids are temporary until my new ones arrive later this week!

    Bonding Bonding bags?

I would imagine that the weight of the guinea pig in a hanging fabric bag would make them and you uncomfortable. I just don't think it would be supportive enough?

    Fleece Loving the fleece:)

People clean their fleece in different ways. Once or twice a week you must put the fleece in the washer to clean off the pee. But for the poops, there are couple ways to do it: 1) Sweep off the poop every day with a brush and dustpan. 2) Vaccum the poop off. Or any other way you can think of...

    Fleece Fleece sandwich

That makes sense that it would be more difficult to clean, but then why are those piggie bedspread things so popular? They are layers sewn together that can just be thrown into the washer. I was thinking of making something similar myself...

    Fleece Fleece sandwich

If you were going to sew together your bedding, some people use fleece then batting (make sure its polyester) and then an absorbing layer. The batting keeps the pigs farther away from the pee that is supposed to sink to the absorbing layer.

My mom wouldn't allow me to wash pee'd on fleece in the same machine that washes our clothes... Kind of like how she won't let me clean the dog or pig bowls in the same dishwasher our plates and stuff are in. Quite ridiculous to me, but whatever. I wouldn't really want to sweep up the poop all...

Elise (brown & white pig) likes the oranges much more than Charlie, he may take a few nibbles though.

Anyone here foster or run a Guinea Pig rescue?

My grandmother fosters/adopts Golden Retrievers so I know a good amount about fostering. It is different with pigs though, obviously. For her it is not hard to give the fosters up because she knows they have finally found a home! Most shelters/rescues have an adoption fee. This is partly to...
