Thumper & Spanky's new home - Guinea Pig Cages

This is a cage we just put together in 3 days, it has 2 levels, 2 hammocks, 2 sets of stairs, 2 cubbies, and a bridge.

Beautiful and I always wondered how do you get the wood to use? Ive always wanted to build a cage but Im too dense when it comes to finding the materials to use. :) How do you know what size wood to use?

WELL LUCKY FOR ME, MY FATHER IN LAW HAS ALOT OF WOOD THAT HE DOESNT EVER USE, SO ME ANDMY HUSBAND JUST SAT DOWN AND DREW IT OUT ON PAPER, AND WE GOT THE BOTTOM HALF DONE, AND MY DAD FINISHED THE REST, HE HAD SOME IDEAS THAT WE DIDNT COME UP WITH. IT ORIGINALY HAD A BIG TREE BRANCH IN THE MIDDLE, MY DAD THOUGHT THEY MIGHT WANT TO CHEW ON IT(LOL), I FOUND IT TO BE IN THE WAY SO I TOOK IT OUT. I ONLY HAVE $17.00 IN THE WHOLE CAGE AND THAT WAS FOR THE FENCING. I KNOW THAT ALOT OF CAGES ON HERE ARE COLORFUL AND EVERYTHING BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE HAVE THOSE BLANKETS IN THERE CAGES, DUE TO THE PIGS USING THEM AS THEIR TOILET. SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, WE ACTUALLY SPLIT 2X4'S TO MAKE MOST OF THE CAGE, SO WE MADE THEM 1 1/2 BOARDS FOR THE FRAME, THEN WE USED A PIECE OF PLYWOOD FOR THE FLOOR THEN PUT LINOLEUM OVER THE TOP. I HOPE THIS HELPS YA.
