Shauna & Kerri's hay rack - Guinea Pig Cages

We made a large hay rack that we keep on the upper level. It is a bent grid that is curved into a sort of half-moon shape and attatched to the grid wall with zip ties. We have a piece of thin particle board in the back of the rack to keep the hay from falling down onto the lower level.

Yes, I could have cut the cable tie, but it isn't there anymore anyhow. I had issues with the small bits of hay getting all over the cage, so I flipped it over and put a plastic container around the bottom to catch all the small bits...the reason the cable tie was there is because I bent the grid on the wrong side and it broke. So I put tape on it, which didn't hold. With the bottom surrounded by plastic the piggies can't get to that edge now, so it didn't need the cable tie.

I don't usually clip them though, because I have cut myself on the clipped end many times (it is always really sharp and I can never cut it low enough!). So in my many cage re-designing I finally decided that the zip ties would not get clipped short, because if I can get cut on them, then the piggies could to. So I weave the ends through the grids, and for the most part my piggies leave them alone. And I do have a chewer, but she doesn't go for the zip ties.
