Saw this on Facebook today and loved it. It's a cat, but the same goes for any animal. Don't get one if you're not prepared for literally a lifetime of responsibility:

Aw that's awesome. You can really tell that is the same girl!

Oh, that is so cute! I love it!

that's beautiful :)

Ah, that's precious!

I wish people would realize that "forever home" counts for all pets that they take into their homes, not just big pets like dogs and cats. A friend of mine works at Petsmart, and she says they're already getting people bringing in their Easter rabbits because the novelty has worn off. Mind you, this is a store that doesn't even sell rabbits, but these people say they're going to release them into the wild if the store doesn't take them.

What a precious picture.

I love this!
I don't know how someone could ever put an expiration age on an animal. I for one look forward to having my cat into my 40's :) And my piggies for the next 5-8 years (hopefully longer!)

I can't even lie. It made me tear up. I'm such a sap. lol

Don't feel bad. It did the same to me. All I could think of was the cats I've had over the years who spent their lives with me and my horse, who I bought when I was 16 and who was with me on into my 40s. I can't wrap my head around the "animals are disposable" philosophy. I look at the little old lady cat we adopted earlier this year, who was obviously someone's house pet from the way she behaves, and I can't even imagine how/why they wouldn't keep her for a lifetime.

Very sweet sentiment. The longest living pet I've had is one that everyone said would only live for a year or two. I had a pet frog who lived in a tank with water plants for ten years. He was one of those dwarf frogs with the little claws. I got him in highschool and he lived throughout most of my college life moving from my parents into an apartment. He was with me when I first got engaged to my now husband too. I still miss my little Speedy at times.
