Okay, so I have been looking through the posts on this website and have found the ones about not buying from a pet store. I read the page about the dump and everything and I am just completely disgusted that people would do that. I was telling my husband about what I was reading since he got my little baby from Petco as a Christmas present, well 2 days later I had to take her to the vet and they said she has the start of a URI... I'm very happy I took her to the vet and not back to them, that's what Petco wanted.. But nope!! We also read that you should have more than one (we are waiting til Capone is 100% better until bringing a new one into our family) and we WILL NOT be going back to the pet store. If anyone lives in Iowa and has a list of rescue centers, shelters or anything please let me know. I am just in totally shock of how cruel people can be to poor innocent animals. On a brighter note. I love my Capone and I'm glad she is with us She seems to be doing better since going to the vet . Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Sorry about the longgg post just had to get this out!

That's what is great about this forum, there are sooo many people who don't know (including myself at one time). We figure the pet stores label to care for pets and that they are giving animals homes, sadly not the case.

Anyways, glad to have you on the site, there is certainly A LOT of information on piggy care. Good luck with your piggy and with finding the next perfect little girl to join your family.


Start on Petfinder, petango, and even craigslist. With craigslist be careful as there are some who just breed babies, so get one that just needs a new home. I've successfully rehomed two pigs on CL.

I know! I'm not going to lie, I have spent most of my Saturday on this website... Lol! I think I am freaking myself out with my new little piggy since this is my first I observe almost everything she does. Thank you so much for the websites I will be looking into those. Aww! It's great that you rehomed two piggies. I honestly didn't know I was going to be this much in love, I'm addicted... Haha.

Thank you very much! Capone is in good hands, she is my little baby Whenever I'm at work I'm constantly calling my husband asking how is Capone, what she doing. Lol! He keeps saying I found a new love lol. I put a few pictures of my baby girl on my page!
