They sell this at my local feed store. What do you think?

If it says somewhere on the packaging that it's kiln-dried then it's ok. Otherwise the scent is probably too strong for guinea pigs.

All it says is what's there on the front. It says dried, just not specifically kiln dried.

I put my nose up to a handful from an opened bag at the store & it definitely has a pine smell but it wasn't really that strong in my opinion. I also did the same sniff test with the pine pellets they had & those did have a stronger smell. That's all I had to compare it to. Wish I knew how to tell if these were ok. I wonder how long it would take my piggies to show symptoms if they were bad? And if by then is it too late? bpatters foggycreekcavy

The damage from pine products is not immediate. It takes time (days or weeks) for foot problems to develop, and even longer (months or years) for liver problems to show up.

I have confirmed with this company that the bedding is kiln dried!

I wouldn't use any wood shavings honestly :/ the bedding should be dust free or it can cause a respiratory infection. I don't think pines dust free :/ but idk. I'm no expert or anything I'd just advice against it and use fleece or paper bedding a

Lovecavy13 Kiln dried pine shavings or aspen shavings are perfectly safe to use with guinea pigs. Paper bedding is often EXTREMELY expensive and fleece definitely isn't for everyone.

Oh ok. As I said I'm not an expert. I personally wouldn't use it. That's all

I was using paper bedding before & it was VERY dusty. I'm really surprised that this bedding is not dusty AT ALL like the Carefresh!! It may just be this particular brand is double sifted.
