I want to make a wooden base for my C&C cage, I'm sick so my math and intellect are failing me at the moment.

My cage is 2X4 or 28"X56". I want to put that on 2X4 wood pieces so that the walls cut the wood in half leaving 2 inches on the inside and on the outside. I know constructionally how to cut everything. But, what would the dimensions of the outside of the 2X4's be? Would I just add two inches making it 30"X58". Or am I completely off?

Please let me know if you need details clarified, it's a bit difficult to explain.

Are you going to use connectors? If you only use grids, your calculations should be fine. If you use connectors, you may have to add a few inches more. Is the wood base just going to be a stand for the cage or are you using it instead of coroplast?
