My girlfriend got her boar a buddy about 4 weeks ago. They got along pretty well for a while but now the older one growls at the younger one and chases him around alot. That bothers her. But what really is driving her crazy is the little one's screaming/whistling. He does it very, very loudly whenever someone comes in the apartment door, in the morning or evening before feeding time, whenever he feels like it, if we take the older one out...just about constantly. Any ideas? They have plenty of room, a 2X5 C&C cage, get fed regularly. The younger one grew up around his piggie family before she got him and they all screamed at hay time. He's just gone above and beyond hay time.

Thats part of pigs charm. They talk. The boy isnt growling he is purring or more likly rumble struting. They yell a lot when they want food and when they want attention or just for the heck of it. You should read Teresa's page about behavior. Its very helpfull. I think its at www.Cavyspirit.com If you certain their both boys then they should be ok. Ive personaly noticed that boys between four months and a year are more vocal in general it can get anoying. My first baby was an only when he was weaned he screamed almost nonstop. I put a towel over his cage so he was completly covered when I couldnt stand it. You know like when you coover birds? It helped a little. It could just be his personality.

the squealing your talking about is called wheeking. piggies do it ONLY for humans! dont you feel special. they usually do that when they know theres food coming and to me, its sounds like your little piggie is really happy to see you guys come home. he has associated the sound of the door opening, with you! you should feel lucky!

but if he squeals and makes a lot of noise when the older piggie is around, it is a sign that he is frightened and you may want to seperate them. more so if they are both males. even if they get along now, when they become sexually mature they may begin to fight.

but on the other hand males have been know to bond like they were long lost brothers. just dont plan on introducing a female to them. then almost for sure they will start to fight. even the scent of a female is enough to make them fight. just a thought.

I've noticed that during floortime, if one of my piggies loses track of the other, she'll start wheeking, which sets the other one off wheeking and they home in on each other until they meet up again.

Sounds like mine. If one gets stuck under something, the other one will start wheeking.

Ya, mine do that. They did it a lot more when they were babies and had temporarily lost there mom.
