Behavior Will my piggies remember me?

I have been away from home a week now. I think about my piggies every day. I never had pets before because I travel a lot. Since I got the piggies in October I only went away for a couple of weekends, but they seemed to know me on my return--my husband said they hardly wheeked when I was gone but they wheeked like crazy again when I came back.

Now I'm wondering--when I return, after an absence of 3 weeks, will they know me? or will it be like them meeting yet another new carer for the first time, when I come back?

I miss those piggies! But I wonder if they will have already forgotten the madwoman who sang to them and talked to them endlessly about incomprehensible things. Will they bond with their piggie-sitter instead?

Don't worry. After awhile it'll click and they'll recognize you again. Piggy hearts are never too small to love more!

Mine remembered me after my two week vacation. And in the wild it says that Pigs will remember routes to food for 4 to 5 weeks, that being said your the best route to food

They should. A guinea pig's cognitive center isn't well developed so it's hard for them to learn new things. Their memory, on the other hand, is very well developed so once they've learned something they're unlikely to forget.
