I was wondering, I have coroplast left over from a new cage built for a pig we took in unexpectedly a few days ago, and it is just enough to make a hayloft on the back half, approximately 1x3, would that be big enough for a hayloft/feeding area? The main cage is 2x4, and there are two piggies, maybe eventually the third (we have two sows, the new one is an unneutered boar) will be in the same cage, if we decide to keep him and get him neutered (we are keeping him for now because my niece wasnt properly caring for him). In that case I could add on to the loft but for now it is just the two pigs. I want to do this to give them more space downstairs..also should I give them a hayrack on each level, or is just on top enough? They make a huge mess right now by pulling down their hay and peeing/pooping on it and we are using fleece, I am hoping that the hayrack in the loft will be enough.

I would say that plenty of hay in the hay loft would certainly be enough. Just be sure that your piggies can use the ramp safely and happily before confining the hay only to the second level.

thank you for replying :) I always make sure they get plenty of hay, and apparently I give them extra since it ends up as a nice bed then a potty for them ;) I was thinking of using bent cubes because they seem the most sturdy for a climb like that, or I have apple sticks I can drill holes in and use dowel rods to stiffen them to make sure they will support piggies weight. I'll be sure to give 2 hay racks until they are used to the upper level. Thanks again :)

I would suggest making a 1x2 on one end of the cage- a 1x3 will need a support post, which means that it will take away running space. Maybe save a grid to make a hay rack or tunnel?

Congrats on the new cage!
