Size Why the *half* grid cage size? (ex 2x3.5 grids)

This might be a really dumb question, but what is the point of the 2 (or whatever) by 3.5 grid cages? Why the half size? Is it because it's easier for a lid to fit on top without falling in? Or just a good size because the 2x4 is too large for some people but 2x3 is too small?

Just curious and may be making one. Not sure on size yet. Thanks :)

That might be the size that if in the only space they can put a cage at in an area where the piggies get constant interaction. I'd rather see them lose a few inches to see people all day long and have hours and hours of attention.

It could be a size/space issue, it could be a human logic issue (parents or significant others thinking a 2x4 cage is unreasonably large but agreeing to a 2x3.5)
half a grid is about 7 inches, sometimes those few inches make a huge difference to the piggies

Ok makes sense, thanks :) I was just wondering because on the websites that sell full C&C cages they have a 3.5 but no other half size cages. Like why not 2x 4.5 and 5.5 and all the others too? LOL but I get it.....just thought there would be some other reason!

When we had a 2x3.5 it was a space issue. We have 2 boars and if I went any bigger then we wouldn't be able to open the front door to get un our house, but I knew they needed bigger than a 2x3 ( I have since figured out how to fit a 3x3).

The 2x3.5 was just a size I came up with back in 2003 when we were making the Xsmall size. We no longer carry the Xsmall (too small), but the 2x3.5 just *stuck* so we didn't remove it.

As the others have said, those few inches are precious, and it works for those that couldn't fit the 2x4. It's an "odd" size, so we didn't want to get too crazy with a 2x4.5 or 2x5.5.
