why does my pig eat his poo?

Hi there,:)

I bought my two young males from a pet store about 2 months ago, and have had fun getting to know them :D
One is called Harris and the other Rum, whenever i bring Rum out onto my lap for a stroke he always ducks his head underneath to pull out his poo then eats it! Is this normal behavior? From experience when other animals do this it means they are lacking nutrients in their diet, is it the same with guinea pigs?

poo eating

Guinea pigs do this all the time. There are nutrients that have gone undigested that they recover from doing this. It is perfectly normal and natural. I know that it concerned me at first notice but after educating myself I found out that they are supposed to do it and it is good for them.
