Our guinea pig (female, approx 6.5 years old) has developed a white spot on her right eyeball today. She's having a good bit of crusty discharge from that eye.
She is eating normally & is talkative, though a little less talkative than usual. She seems to be having normal urine & fecal output, though she's passed gas a number of times in the past couple of days.
She eats plenty of Timothy hay. She has not been having any cruciferous vegetables--primarily romaine lettuce, bell peppers, apples, sometimes cucumbers. She has lost a little weight (0.6 oz) & feels a little bonier through her hips.
For a few months now, her breathing has been different--kind of pulling in big breaths & flaring her nostrils while breathing. She doesn't seem to be distressed by it, so we assumed it was a part of the aging process.
Our primary concern is for her eye, though, as we have found several different possible causes on this site, but we're not sure how to narrow down if this is serious & needs to be seen by a vet.
