I'm a new piggie owner and new as a member to this forum, and having went through the boards I feel it's necessary for me to share my experiences with the company B&Q and their cubes. As a birthday present last year I received two rescued guinea pigs, they were being kept outside in a small hutch in the previous home so I took them inside to live in a store bought cage. I've had plenty of rats, mice and hamsters before but never a guinea pig so I assumed the bought cage would be fine for them. Having looked around the guineapigcages website for a few months now I knew it was the best thing for my piggies to make a C&C cage for them. Oh, the trouble it has caused me.
I would foremost like to warn people to steer clear of B&Q. Having searched tediously online and offline for months to find cubes for a reasonable price I realised B&Q was the cheapest and had a good amount of individual cubes. So, I called my local store and asked them to order them in for me since that was the only way to get them. It cost me over £40 for these cubes and the day after I ordered them they took the money from my bank card. Four weeks down the line I have no idea where my cubes are, no idea when I will get them and the service they provided thusfar has been terrible. Only a week ago was I informed that the cubes are actually an import from China, I have been given over 5 different expected delivery dates since if they don't arrive on the expected date it is simply moved to around a week later. Every time I have called they have given me a different story, half the time they had no idea what I was talking about and they claim to have no contact details for the Chinese company they receive imports from. I've had 12 sheets of 40 by 40" blue coroplast sitting in my living room for 2 weeks now as I have nowhere else to hold them and with my house up for sale it is quite off-putting. I know B&Q has received a lot of negativity for their kitchen fitting services but it seems their system of importing items is also questionable.
I honestly have no idea what to do now other than ask for a refund and order cubes from amazon - that's 23 cubes for £40 whereas with B&Q I could have got around 48 cubes for the same price. I'm deeply disappointed and can only warn others that should they have no choice but to have B&Q order them in be prepared for a million different stories and delays in your dream of giving your guinea pigs a better life.
