Where is everyone

I keep coming here to see what is going on and it hasn't changed for days. Is anyone out there or is my computer in a twighlight zone???

Am always here

Just like you a doing the same thing, as in every 15 minutes or so to check whats happenin but its steady. This is the second time this happens one time from dec 26 to jan 1 the float of posts were poor.

So.. lets start a topic, what do you think of PeTA? peta is this movement for Proper and Ethical Treatment for Animals. I find there movements not that good. although they have help save lives of thousands of animals. The movement prohibits use of LEATHER as a wear and ANY MEATS AS A FOOD. what do you think of this movement?
PeTA link is <a href="https://www.peta.com" target="_new">this</a>

I hope this topic will make this forum alive again :D

Re: Am always here

Oh, I don't know much about PeTA at all. Actually I would rather not know too much about it LOL. I love eating meat but I do not like to think about where it came from..know what I mean?

Actually, I wish I was a vegetarian...that way I never have to feel guilty. I absolutely love animals. I would never want anything inhumane to happen to them.

I am thinking that if this post is to liven up the board a bit you might get what you want because I am sure people have their own opinions to this subject...I just hope that it stays calm in here and no one says anything nasty.

Where is everyone?

OK.. sorry if my reply was late, its my first day at school since christmas vacation, am home-schooling and it only needs for me to go to school two to three times a month.

PeTA, what I like about them is that they are really campaigning for what they are capaigning. Their actions are visual. One more thing is that they have a much publicised movements and those let people know what they're campaigning for. I agree to their campaign when it comes to BOO CIRCUSES and STOP PETSHOP that SELLS animals.

Peta, what I dont much like or lets say I dont feel most agreed then of the other campaigns are when they're stoping people or at least convincing them to stop eating meat. Leathers are I think appropriate for some reasons but too much use isn't good.

THey are also much sponsored, wherein I think not all of their sponsor's are vegetarian, or are not wearing leathers. I once thaought of joining the ORG but at once I thought joining or at least campaigning them is a commitment.

Quote from Cavy Spirit Website
<hr>"
The philosophical animal rights debate is a question of absolutes -- either you use animals or you don't," says Curtis. "The vast majority of people in the world today have decided to use animals because they want meat and other products of animal origin. It's an issue that's already been decided in our society. The more complex issue that remains open for discussion is animal welfare, and that isn't a matter of absolutes. Animal welfare concerns our moral responsibility to support the well-being of animals. This concern always sparks angry debates, because each and every human being is going to have a different opinion about where to draw the line."

PETA

i hate PETA for one they may have their cause but they go to far, PETA has poisined animals that live in captivity cuz they think that is a horrable way to live and no animal should ever be in captivity, PETA releises demestocated animals into the wild, thinking that they are saving them when in realality they are giving them a brutal death the animals have know idea how to survive in the wild. something that happend here is 2 women stood down town, during lunch, whering nothing but lettice! tye grossed people out, and those to got arrested! lol

Not to disuade you, but as a vegetarian I can asure you that you won't rid the guilt by going vegetarian. It's an endless and tiresome road once you've come to the conclusion that you have some responsibility to minimize your impact to animal-kind. You see, there isn't a clean demarcation between "humane" and "inhumane". We each have personal tolerances and they can grow and change over time. Some draw a line in the sand at eating personal pets, others at eating veal, some such as myself limit it to all animal life, some will shun by-products as well. My experience is once you make the consious decision to draw the line you find yourself debating (yourself) if that line is in the right place, so you redraw it and end up in a cycle of constant re-evaluation

... are eggs really that bad? do I care that there is that little strip of leather on my shoes? do I avoid Starburt or Necco Wafers, or frosted Pop Tarts, or Altoids because they all contain gelatin, if I do avoid gelatin do I give up film processing? do I care that fish emulsions are used as clarifiers in my beer, what about silk? or insecticides? is it ok to eat just one of those wonderful buscuits at the diner even though I know they contain lard, etc. etc. etc.

Mind you, I don't think this introspection is a bad thing, just pointing out that things don't get necessarily easier on you once you make the leap!

Take care,

Brian

Re: peta

Brian, you made a lot of huge points! You are absolutely right...where would I draw the line? I guess right now I say that I think it is wrong when animals are used for coats, but then again I will eat a hamburger. And if I did stop eating meat...would I stop eating other things as well? Great points Brian..truly!!!

AngelicumCavy, to sum it up...Brian was trying to point out that there are so many uses for animals (shoes, food, coats, and even stuff you never think about, like the film). I had said that I wish I could become a vegetarian so I wouldn't eat the meat...but his point was that even if I stopped eating the meat that there are so many other things that the animals are used for too...which ones would I choose to stop?

Excellent Point!

Brian explained it all, an excellent point!

OK... Peta has more than 20 running websites, they publish magazines as i believe and more than 20 publications a year, produces some documentaries and has thousands of ads around the world. ALL ARE USING FILMS for camera and video huh! lol.

Re: Exploiting women?

In my town a woman from peta went out side wearing nothing but panties and a sign over her breasts, it was 17 degrees outside for that matther, she had a see through tiger costume on and was put into a steel cage, she was protesting the Barnum & Bailey circus that was in town, she got arrested, I think it's REALLY stupid of them to put more than half naked women out on the streets to get attention, those women have absolutley no respect for themselves. Not to mention, I've seen behind the scene things on circus's and they were kept in excellent condition ( the elephants at least, that's all I saw ) They had a huge place to roam that had a pond that they swam in, at night they were kept in spacious stalls with plenty of cleanliness to go 'round and they didn't abuse them while training them either, this was in Canada though, I live in the US though. I think they're an annoying little group of people, I mean I'm all for animals rights and all, but, they do really stupid stuff that doesn't even get through to people, it just make guys get excited while going to work. Those women have no self-respect, it's just a STUPID organization.

Re: Exploiting women?

Barnum and Bailey circus does have its dark little secrets.

<blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>I think they're an annoying little group of people

They aren't that same of an organization.

They do get some things changed but I think they turn a lot of people off with how strong they come on.

Peta wants to stop animal abuse and the overpopulation problem. Some people choose to help and some people add to the problem.

Deandraspigs - I read that your sow is pregnant again. You really should be more careful with your sows life. There is a 20% chance of complications in any pregnancy of a guinea pig. I hope you have an emergency vet standing by if anything should go wrong. Also unless you are purposely breeding you may want to keep your boar separated from your sow for good to prevent anymore "accidents".

Nakeds and circuses

I find that Nudity thing in-appropriate, But deanspigs no matter how excellent the animals are kept (if they were really kept excellent) I dont think a single circus must be around in this world, Me and my whole family mother's and father's side never attend any circuses.

There's no other training way for elephants than BY USING that tool with a pin-point end. JUST NO OTHER WAY, so what does this mean? there is no single circu woth animals have never abused or in-humanely treated there animals. Humans want to earn and earn money with their animls blodd and soul.

Re: Nakeds and circuses

This person who I watched was a zoo keeper and on the off season at the zoo they did the circus, so therefore they weren't a circus group, they did it for something to do, something to pay, I watched them and they talked to the elephant and it did what was told of him, he even had a little boy helping him train the elephants. These elephants aren't kept by the circus but by their animal keeper, this was shown in a national geographic video called keepers of the wild so if you wanna check it out you can. Briana D, it was not done purposely and yes I know the risks, I've been through this before with her pet shop pregnancy, I've read up on everthing, so I'm pretty well prepared, and yes I do have a vet on hand.
