I can't understand why Cali is wheeking when she is inside her hidey. I give her fresh veggies, water and hay all the time but she makes the noises like she is still hungry. Sometimes she will wheek outside her hidey and then when my husband or I go near her she runs back in and continues to squeak. Is she playing a game with us or what?

I dont remember how many or how long you had your piggies for. When I got mine, in the beginning when one of my piggies (I have 2) would be out of sight for awhile my piggy would wheek wondering where she is. That lasted for about 2 months. Now she couldnt care less.

I had 2 piggys but one died. I've had Cali now for 2 1/2 weeks.

She is most likey calling for the one who passed away. You should look in to adopting another, try www.petfinder.com

Awww - I'm so sorry for your loss.
Yeah, she might be calling for her former cagemate. Maybe you could give her a stuffed animal as a temporary friend?
Then, when you're ready, start visiting rescues for a permanent friend :)

Or put a mirror in her cage!

lol. I tried that once.. they just tried to eat it.

When I first got my 6week old guinea pig she constantly cried for her cage mate if I ever took her out alone. Your guinea pig is probably just lonely.. in time she will be ok, getting her another friend is a great idea!

I am planning on getting her another friend. I know someone who knows someone that just has a guinea pig that just had babies. We are also looking into adoption as well. I have put a mirror and a stuffed animal in the cage. She seems to ignore the stuffed animal unless she sees it during floor time. Then she winds up just pushing it around. It's quite funny.

Beni died 4 1/2 days after we got him. How long do piggys squeal for their cage mate? The pet store said we had two males but so far Cali appears to be female. So if Beni was a male, I'm assuming there is a slim possibility that Cali could be pregnant. I am taking her to the vet on Tuesday for he second Ivermetron (sp?) shot.

I am doinng everything I can to make sure Cali doesn't go like Beni did. She has plenty of veggies, floor time, and lap time every day. I know she needs a friend soon. It's only been 2 weeks but I don't want to wait too long.

I guess the best thing to do is wait until Tuesday at least to find out if there are any signs of her being pregnant. If she does turn out to be pregnant then I won't have to get her a new companion after all. In the meantime I will be working on her new C&C cage.

Good luck at the vets. I hope that she is ok, I also hope that you are lucky and that she is not pregnant. When my girl lost her companion she did not wheek for her but she did become very withdrawn. She would not come out at all untill I got her some friends.

Thanks. I will keep you all posted.
