What's your proud piggie parent moment?

My pigs always sleep under their lofts at the sides of their cage because they feel more hidden and safe there (understandably). However both are very comfortable lying in the middle of the cage awake, chatting together, watching me, eating, playing, etc.

This weekend, Icarus (my super shy cuy) has picked an exposed spot in the middle of the cage as his new favorite nap spot (for now at least). Sprawled out, fast asleep, and eyes closed, even though I’m in the room. Multiple times the past two days.

I basically want to run laps around the apartment in victory. The last time I was this excited over a piggie mama moment was when Icarus finally took veggies directly out of my hand (he made me wait almost three months).

Sorry for the dorky post, but I wanted to share with people who understand.

What was your proudest piggie parent moment?

When Wishbone walked around in a circle on command for the first time. I was really proud of her.

When Gypsy came to the side of the cage to take veggies from my hand, I was so excited, and everybody thought I was crazy! But that was a big breakthrough for her. Non-pig people just don't get it.

The first time Penny held still in the cage for head pets, I was so excited she didn't run from my hand!

When Chester runs and squeaks at me in the morning asking for breakfast and when I find him sleeping in the open. He's still a little guy so it's awesome when he is relaxed and confident to be out in the open... it makes my heart melt.

And with my two new boys I rescued off CL, when I see them cuddle in their big cage knowing they never had this much space and were always separated. When Max and Hershey sleep together I just know in my heart they were meant to be cage mates.

When I took Penelope out of the cage for some snuggles and she didn't frantically scramble to escape my arms. We sat on the couch and she looked up at me, making eye contact, as if she was saying, "I know you love me and care about me and aren't going to hurt me." This moment has been in the works for 2 years. I still get all giddy when I hold her and she just sits there looking at me, with no fear in her eyes. Okay, I am getting all teary eyed now.

When Hershey and Scarlet finally let me pet them in their cage without running away. And whenever Hershey started understanding how to do a trick.

When Cookie doesn't freak out when I put veggies, hay, or pellets in the cage (which sadly has been like once.) And when S'mores lets me pet her in the cage

I asked my boyfriend his moments and I'll share mine as well with our guinea girls.

For my boyfriend:
When Fiona and Toora Loora first started to crawl into our laps in floortime.
When Toora Loora ran around the cage to follow my boyfriend.
And when they started to offer kisses even if we don't have treats.

For me:
When Fiona learned to hold still and be calm while getting her nails cut (she had a hard time with this).
When my boyfriend's family came over and Fiona showed off her tricks!

When clipping my girls' nails results in better, not worse, behavior. I thought they'd hate me for it, but they really do appreciate having their nails done. For a while after they sometimes forget they don't like to be picked up.

I have two moments...

The first, when I taught Cookie her tricks...she does them now with simple hand commands.
If I circle my finger above her head, she twirls. If I click my fingers above of her head she stands on her hind legs, and if I put my hand out, she high fives me!

When the vet praised my care, since not many people in my area care or know enough to take care of them. The vet said they would live long lives, and of course this made me really happy c:

My second is when I was babysitting a little girl, and I put Cecelia on her lap. Cece was so gentle and kind, even giving her little kisses. The girl was a little skittish, but now every time she comes over she wants to see my little Cece <3

My proud piggy moment was when Bluebell taught Lilly and Fawn to lick and they all started on me at the same time. It was awesome.
