Hay What type of hay is the best?

I just ordered timothy hay & pellets from Kleen Mama's, I'm switching from Oxbow. I know timothy hay is a staple, that always stays out.

But I was wondering, would it be a good idea to purchase other types of hay or do they pretty much do the same thing for my pigs? I know Oxbow offers a lot of different kinds, so it made me curious. Thanks!

I was also wondering the same thing.

They need any type of grass hay 24/7. So, timothy, orchard, bluegrass, etc., doesn't really matter. Just not alfalfa for adult pigs since it's a legume hay. Timothy is higher in calcium, though, so it's not good for pigs that already have powdery pee/stones. You can feed different types as a treat, rotate hays, etc. Different types will help to stimulate your piggies!

any type of grass hay(timothy, bluegrass, orchard, brome, etc) is good for piggies and be available always

if you just want to feed timothy that fine but there are other choices

I think it's always a good idea to feed a mix of hays if you can. I know of more than one owner who's run out of the pigs' regular hay and had them absolutely refuse to eat the replacement. I mix my timothy with whatever else KM has available at the moment -- right now they've got bluegrass.
