what to use to clip nails

what should you use to clip a guinea pig's nails? im not sure if normal human ones are going to do something bad that i dont know about. are there special ones you can get or should i stick to human clippers?

Most people just use human nail clippers, they work perfectly well. Just watch out for the quik (the line that runs down the nail). Don't clip that otherwise the nail will begin to bleed. If it does then you can use some flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding

I use the tiny baby clippers that I use on my kids. It worked fine, I just get nervous about cutting too much because he has black nails and it makes it hard to see the quick.

Even regular human toenail clippers (one of my girls has thick nails) or regular fingernail clippers are fine.

yeah we cut that on my dog, it wouldnt stop bleeding, we have stuff for that now that you put on it so it stops. thanks!

There is a nail clipper made especially for small animals. They come with different animal heads - rabbit, guinea pig & ferret. They also have brushes to match. You can purchase them in the small animal section of your pet store or on-line. I find them very easy to use since I cut nails by myself.

Yeah, use regular clippers, just becareful not to go to far. Or you'll cut teh quick and they'll bleed.
