I am wondering what kind of guinea pig pellets you would recommend? Not sure what to feed my guinea pigs. Please tell me what are best. I really want my guineas to be healthy and live a happy life:love:.

Just like the other thread about the hay you were feeding, the best hay and pellets are:
-KMS Hayloft (broken link removed)
-Oxbow (Cavy Performance for under 6 mo. Cavy Cuisine for over 6 mo.)
- and Sweet Meadow (broken link removed)

Okay so it doesn't matter which of these I order then. That is what I wanted to know. Thanks so much ellisa!

No problem! They are the best quality pellets out there for guinea pigs. KMS is a bit better I've heard but I live in Canada so I feed Oxbow. I've never had a problem with Oxbow, though.

i feed sweet meadow and my two boys really like them but here soon i'm going to try them on KM's pellets

and yes KM's, oxbow, and sweet meadow are the top three

Thanks (broken link removed)(broken link removed) I wanted to get them something that is good so I guess I will check out all the sites and see what I should do. Need to make my order soon.

I've been feeding Oxbow for years and have no plans on changing. I love it!

Pigs under 6 months old should be fed alfalfa based pellets. And pigs over 6 months should get timothy based pellets.

Just keep that in mind when you're ordering. I know for sure that Oxbow carries both kinds.

I've always used Oxbow but decided to try KM. Even my one guinea pig that hated pellets loves it so I'm sticking with KM. The only thing I wish is that the 25 lbs didn't come in one big bag. I repackage it into five 5 lb zip lock bags.

I agree with pinky, the giant 25 lb bag is a bit much... and not resealable. I just made the switch from oxbow to KM...my pigs seem to love it the same, however I like not having to buy it at petsmart. Back in the good ole days I ordered bails of hay straight from oxbow, but now they're exclusive and don't do it ... boo!

Does any one know if KMS delivers pellets to countries in Asia?

No, KMS doesn't ship outside the US -- too many taxes and import/export regulations.

Where in Asia are you? There are several posters here from various Asian countries, and we could put you in touch with them if you'll let us know what city you're closest to.

Philippines. I'm having trouble looking for online stores that ships piggy food here.

I'm looking at the Oxbow International site. They don't indicate there that they sell Oxbow in the Philippines, but they do in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. If you could import from any of those countries, you could email Oxbow at [email protected] and ask for contacts. They've been pretty good about responding before.

Or you could just contact them and ask how you could get pellets in the Philippines.

Another option is just to go pelletless. Some people, either because they believe it's better for the pig or because they can't get good pellets, use a HAFF (hay and fresh foods) diet. You have to calculate the amount of vitamins and minerals that you're giving them pretty carefully, but it can be done.

You can order 50 lb boxes of Oxbow Orchard Grass at Pet Supplies Plus for $60. I think you can get timothy in 25 lb boxes.

I love pet supplies plus more and more every day. There's one down the street and around the corner from my apartment and I love it. They have great prices too. My pigs love this KM hay but the shipping is a bit pricey. Might go with the oxbow next time.

Hi I am from the Philippines too. Have you tried Furry Friends Guinea Pig Pellets? Its available here in the Philippines. Where particularly in the Phils.are you located? I am located in Santolan, Pasig, and there is a nearby poultry supply shop where i buy those pellets. According to the seller, I am the only customer who buys those pellets., so I am opting to buy a sack for my own use but I am afraid that it's too much for just 3 piggies and it might just get spoiled.. I buy it 55Php per Kilo..

What are the ingredients of those pellets? I tried to search on Google buy cannot find a list of ingredients anywhere.

There's a thread over at Guinea Lynx with the composition of Furry Friend pellets: https://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3748

They're mostly alfalfa, so if they're fed to adult pigs, it needs to be in very small quantities and I'd cut back a little on the calcium in the veggies.

I have tried it, but they have it in sacks, and sell it per kilo (here it's P70/kilo), I don't really like it, it's always exposed to air and who knows how long it's been sitting there (or what's been crawling inside). Hence you can't be sure if the vitamins in the pellets are still there. Hagen is still my best choice compared to other pellets I've seen here in Manila. :p
