hi, 10 minutes ago I went to go see my cavies and when I picked up Winnie she started making these high pitched noises and was twitching. I put her back down and she did not move from the spot where I left her. She is also still twitching and making the loud noises stil l even though I am not holding her. Any advice?

hello please help

I'm not sure. She could be having a seizure? How old is she? Have you treated for mites? Sometimes they cause seizures in a bad case.

What are the sounds like? Do they sound like chirping?

she is only 7 weeks old. No it sounds like a big animal came up to her and she is screaming for her life.

ok, i'd get her to the vet as soon as possible. This doesn't sound very healthy to me. I am worried that something big might be wrong with her.

Hmm.... I was just going to put her in my other cage that is a 2x3 and if she keeps doing it I will take her to the vet.

I would take her to a vet right away!

I can't right now because my mom can't bring her to the vet becuase she is busy.

Does it sound like she's screaming? If so, take her ASAP. That's what my pig did the night before he died from scurvy. Do you have vitamin C tablets? If so, mix it with a little bit of water and syringe feed it.

ok, I can do that right now. She seems to be calming down now. She does not make the screaming noise anymore. She also seems to be moving around a lot more. Luckly she has a cage mate who is getting her up and moving. lol

Could she possibly have mites? I know if they are in pain from mites they will scream when you pick them up.

Does she have eye discharge, runny nose, loose poops, bald spots, lethargy? I'm sorry if I scared you in my last post. Is it possible you were holding her the wrong way?

sorry it took me so long to reply. I am taking her to the vet tommorow. She is looking even worse, and honney my other has been by her for the past 4 hours. I am not sure if she has loose poops or eye discharge. I will ask the vet if she has mites. Thank you all for your imput. *hugs everyone*

I wish you the best of luck! Try to get some veggies and food down her if you can!

Best of luck at the vets xxx

thanks,

sadly when I went there they said she might have omonia and it has been with her ever since she was born and went down into her lungs so she had heavy breathing. Then they took her from me to get e rays and the vet came back and sad she went over the rainbow bridge when they were giving her x rays. She was only 8 weeks old. I miss her sooo much.

I'm so sorry! I'm sure she was well taken care of while she was with you. Hope you feel better soon.

thanks ,I treated her like she was my baby.
