I want to change my bedding type, I am curently using oak/walnut shavings. But my guys make a big mess with it. I am thinking of switching to fleece. I thought about making some fleece "pads". By having fleece for a top layer, layer of cotton batting, and then a viynal bottom. All sown together to fit the cage perfectly. Do you think this would work? Do you think the cotton batting would wear out to quick from having to wash it all the time? (that was what my husband asked) Would like to have many more opions. Anyone out there who dose alot of qwilting know if the batting would handle it? Thanks for the help

layers

Instead of batting I might use a couple layers of fleece. Example: 3 layers of fleece then the vinyl, but I don't know about the batting. Sounds like a good idea! =)

An alternative to the vinyl was brought up in another thread. You can use waterproof crib pads.

today i went to marshalls and found a huge king size fleece blanket for 15 dollars.

just wanted to share!

Cotton batting would hold up to multiple washing if you made sure you got a brand called Warm and Natural. It is used in quilting and does hold up. I would use several layers of fleece since fleece will repel moisture and the batting will soak it up.
