I found this recipe to make treats for piggies. The ingredients are
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups Oxbow or Kleenmama's guinea pig pellets, or other small guinea pig food
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 6 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
Do you thinks is a healthy treat to give once a month or something like that?

No no no......

No "treats" for Guinea Pigs. They would be far more happy with a nice leaf of Lettuce or a few stalks of Cilantro. Many people think it is a good idea for a treat once and a while-- But it isn't unless they are referring to fresh Veggies or a fruit. The only thing your Piggy should have in that recipe are the Water and Pellets.

I didn't think honey was good for them <shrug>

Okay, better without these things then. Better a strawberry.

I'd stick with the natural stuff, easier too LOL

Here is a thread from long ago. That I think Ly was okay with. (Note veggies are the BEST treats for a guinea pig). Also mod please correct me of things have changed!
Ly did say to change few things in the recipe though.

No flour for guinea pigs, and no honey. What's wrong with herbs and a bit of fruit?

Is just that I found that recipe in a web that seems to be good. I think that the treat on that link, Wolfie, is better.
Thank you.

Flour is Not good for guineas. Neither is honey. Try this treat I made.

Raspberry Banana Cups
Human friendly too!

1 raspberry (1 per pig)
1 chunk of banana about the size of an adult's pinky fingernail.
Wash raspberry.
Put chunk of banana inside raspberry.

Serve (to pigs or humans) and enjoy!

Please limit these treats to 1 per pig per two days.

I give my boys a spring of italian parsley as a treat.

They love love love it.
And since it one of those very once in a while herbs it works out great as a treat.

I love the raspberry and banana idea by one of the other posters.
