How much do you guys pay for a full vet check for your piggies? I just got off the phone with all five vet clinics in my city who take small animals, and non of them will charge lower then 45 bucks...I work, so i can pay this fee, but it seems a bit high to me for such a small animal..I know to us, its well worth it, but i just thought that was a little high?

Well I have spent 5 grand on my piggy so far because he is losing tons of fur but now is getting better but I pay about 30-40 dollars for a table chek up at my vets office!

My vet is charging me $32 to see 3 of my piggies as an office visit...I called back to make sure that wasn't per piggie and they said no it was for all of them..:) I paid $28 the other time I did a walk in with her there

Well see my guineapig is losing hair so it gost 5 grand he is getting better though

Five thousand dollars sounds a little outrageous and slightly unlikely.

Yu but I love my pig tooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

49 dollars just to walk in the door

wow 32 for three piggies? That's good, my vet charges $40 per pig.

wow...I can't beleive how expensive it is..my friend has a smallish dog that costs only three dollars more then me to take my pig in.. But what has to be done has to be done i guess.

mine charges like 10 15 per pig depending on whats wrong

I agree with Auzziefreak, Littlebear. $5,000 for mites is unlikely, maybe you mean $50? Mites only cost about $40 to treat.

Our vet charges $40 per pig.

I just got back from my vet, took the the oldest girls in, they checked them, clipped their nails, trimmed ones teeth, cleaned all their ears, weighed them and the other normal checkup things and it only cost me $32.00.

Oh wow! A few years back when we didn't know how to trim nails, we took one of our pigs to a vet to get their nails clipped and it cost $70.00!

oh mygosh ruby thats alot for some nail clippings! lol

I know, lol. I'm just happy that I didn't have to pay for it... now I would, but I was only like 9 back then.

It may sound stupid, but maybe the high prices are an American thing? I took them to the vet for coughing. He also did a check up, but I only had to pay for the medicin (17 euros)...

I get my cavies nails clipped at petsmart for 5 bucks for all three of my pigs. It is a lot cheaper then going to the vet.

queen B i wouldnt trust anyone at a petstore to touch my guinea pigs...other than pet them

She is talking about the vets there.

I agree, $5000.00 sounds, well, insanely outrageous. I had TWO pigs treated for mites, which means three visits, including a checkup and medicine for both of them. I think the total was:

$13 for two pigs' meds each visit. ($13x3=$39 total)
$27 for the checkup for both pigs.

$66 total for two cavies' mite treatments. Not bad.
