Can someone make a video of them doing a cuddle , I dont understand what you do in a cuddle .
I don't mean to be rude, but if you don't know what a "cuddle" is, then go pick up a dictionary. Or ask your parents. You shouldn't need a video to understand what a cuddle is.

A bit frustrating isn't it!

Thank you Denise! It does get very frustrating sometimes.

Ok I'm terribly sorry for having to go through this but maybe a bit more will help.

Issue of Social Lives: Pigs are natural wild herd animals. They love company and enjoy the attention of another SAME-SEX pig (Unless you are financially ready to spend on neutering.) You will need to get your pig a friend. I did a project in college a couple months ago on the study of guinea pigs. I had been on here so of course I gathered some knowledge and wrote what I called a paper. In that paper I stated that I believed that Single-pig households should spend around 5-7 hours with their pigs because of the loneliness. If I am correct I believe that is DOUBLE the normal floor time/lap time. Please consider getting a special friend for your pig.

On the food Issue: I agree with slap. L/M food is the absolute WORST you can get. Are you sure your pig is getting the right amount of vitamin C? Are you sure that you can provide $10 a week towards veggies (At the least)? Consider changing it's diet to something a bit more suitable like Oxbow Food and Hay Inc. ((broken link removed)). Since your pig is only 7 weeks, you will also need to supply it with fresh, high quality Alfalfa hay.

On the finance issue: If you alone are paying for ALL the pigs needs, I personally think you should have dug a little deeper into research about finance and pigs. If it gets to a point where your pig is sick and cannot be handled any longer, you may need to surrender it. It sounds like your parents don't care all that much about the pig.

Conclusion: Next time, think a bit before you act.

Hope that wasn't too harsh!

Ly, your math is off today a little. I don't blame you, this is frustrating. A 30" x 36" is acctually exactly 7.5 square feet.

There is no way he has a cage that size, though. They don't make them that size.

I don't get it...Isnt't a 2x3 7.5 square feet? So shouldn't the measurements be 28x42

Yeah.. I am not sure why Teresa has that on the home page.

You're creeping me out Winnie - you just want to see pics and videos of everyone!

Amy (AmiableAnimals) said the cage is 6 square foot. Winnie has a cage that is 2 sq. ft. x 3 sq. ft. not 2 grids x 3 grids. The 30"x36" of a 2x3 C&C cage is the inner usable dimensions not the outer dimensions. The outer dimensions of a 2x3 C&C would be 28x42 if you don't use connectors. Winnie's cage is probably measured by the outer dimensions and thus would probably be only 6 sq. ft. total inside because it is a commercial cage.

If you notice on the main page of cavycages it says:
*Also Note: Cage sizes quoted are the INNER, USABLE dimensions of the cage. NOT the standard cage manufacturers' ploy of measuring the outer lip of plastic from end to end to publish the cage size.

Okay- Amy must have just estimated it. Here is a website that measures square footage-

(broken link removed)

It comes out to exactly 7.5 square feet.

The 30"x36" of a 2x3 C&C cage is the inner usable dimensions not the outer dimensions.

No- because even two grids on the outer dimensions (inclusing connectors) would equal only 29"x43".

I know they measure the outer dimmentions in pet store cages, though.

I'm not gonna argue and it seems you would argue with a tree. I do have to say one thing, Slap, it seems you are always telling me that I am wrong about something or another and it's really getting to me and I don't appreciate it. I wasn't made a moderator for nothing.

I am not saying that I am always 100% correct on every single little thing, but I do know about guinea pig care and I learn more every single day.

Ly, when do I correct you on every little thing? The only time I ever corrected you was about the square footage, this time and last time. Twice. Ever. You must have me confused with somebody else.

I will correct people with wrong information- things that screw people up. Everybody gets stuff wrong once in a while, including me, including you.

I don't why you are getting upset about this. I respect you as a moderator and I respect your opinion over mine, almost always, Ly. I looked up to you for advice on when Maia was constipated, I didn't know what to do- I took your advice without a doubt in my mind. You know what you are talking about.

I do not intend to pick fights, I hope you relize this.

We will discuss this in private. I apologize for bringing it on the forum itself but I am having a bad day and am just very upset with you and other people as well.

I just want to say that I have learnt alot in the 3 plus years that I have had my piggies. I'm sure that there are people that have had piggies longer than me and I totally respect thier judgement and experience. We are here to learn and help each other, right?
