This was brought up in another thread and I found it interesting. I have this weird interest in fear. So what are you all afraid of?

Me? I'm afraid of dolls and clowns. Famous examples: Chuckie, IT and the puppet from Saw. I'm also afraid of children. Not real children. The creepy kids in horror movies. Like the girl in Dark Water or Amnityville Horror.

That's funny. My twelve year old brother is afraid of dolls and clowns too! To scare him I rig his room with my old antique dolls before he goes to bed. I know it sounds mean, but he does so much more to me, that it doesn't even compare.

Anyways, I'm afraid of a lot of things. Weird things. I'm not afraid of thunderstorms, but I'm sort of scared of wind. Not nice breezes or whatever, but high-speed "rip trees out of the ground" wind that sometimes comes with storms. I'm also scared of spiders. A lot of bugs actually. I'm not scared of them, but I'm scared that they like crawl on me in my sleep or that they're in my room. I'm also deathly afraid of being murdered. When I'm home by myself, I'm so scared that I'll round a corner and be face to face in someone with a hockey mask. And there's plenty more we won't list now.

Oo. I'm scared of earwigs. They freak me out. I see them and I scream and run without even thinking. I've run into walls and knocked myself out.

Susan- I'm also scared of memory loss. This is not a irrational fear though. Alzheimer’s and different dementias run in my family. My dad has actually been diagnosed with dementia. We're not sure if it's Alzheimer’s or effects of long time drug use and alcohol use, or both.

I'm also afraid of ghosts.

Cancer.

Mosquitoes. I had a run in with one two years ago... it was won BIG time. Now every time I hear the annoying buzz of one it makes my skin crawl.

I have only two real fears, Magpies and Flying (If we were meant to fly, we would have been made with wings!).
Magpies because I was once swooped by one, for close to a km.

Spider, heights, snakes, ghosts, being murdered by someone, and any type of bug.

I am afraid of driving over a long/tall bridge and there be a whole in it or something. (I know that is weird but it has been a recurring nightmare of mine, for almost 30 years.)

I am afraid of scorpions.

I am afraid of walking into a spiderweb. Not the spider as much as the web, kinda like a fear of an *unknown spider.*

I am afraid of random acts of gang violence.

I am afraid that I will spend my whole life working on the same hospital floor.. ARGH, but most of all, what scares me the most, is the fact that my 4 year old daughter will grow up and will no longer want to be ~my baby~..

I'm scared of loose hairs in the bathroom. No joke! I feel like gagging after seeing hair on the toilet seat/bath/floor

Being burried alive (have nightmares of waking up in a coffin), small tight spaces and mimes/clowns with white face make-up (mum said something happened when I was four and a mime tried to get me to pose for odd pictures at a country fair, before he got caught and chased off the grounds, I don't know, I don't remember).

I'm severely phobic of vomiting. To the point of self-harming if I feel nauseous.

I am also afraid of insects, especially spiders and bugs which fly. I'm terrified of the dark (and power-cuts when it's dark) and being alone at night. I have a weird thing about the filter on the bottom and swimming pools and get pretty panicky if I find myself swimming in deep water above one.

My fears:

NEEDLES! I just start shaking and get real nervous when I see them, even though I know they don't hurt that much. Im guessing its a real phobia, not just something that Im afraid of.

-Broken or shattered glass.
-Big groups of ants, lol.

Ever since my carwreck I have a big fear of riding with someone in a car. I have only rode w/ 4 or 5 people in 5 years. Mainly it just has to do with not being in control. Broken glass also has to do with the carwreck.

Laura, I used to be afraid of those filters in swimming pools too. I remember watching a programme (999?) where a girls hair got caught in one and she was under the water for ages. I have long hair too and so used to be petrified and would avoid them.

Die from toasters? How?

That's another thing I forgot. I used to watch the show "Are you afraid of the dark?" on Nickelodeon when I was little, and one episode was when a monster came out of those drains and drowned the person in the pool. Now, I can't swim alone, or go over those drains.

Tosters I read some where that more people die from toasters then shark attacks toasters scare me.

lol Were you the one that had the dream about the flying toasters?

I think I'm scared of vomiting too as I panic if I feel ill or when I start coughing badly. Or I panic if I hear of a vomiting virus going about. I tend to panic about stupid things to be honest, most of them irrational. Please don't laugh, but I don't like it when toilets flush themselves on their own, it creeps me out.

That's where my fear of clowns and dolls came from. There was an episode of a clown doll that was trying to kill everyone. Oh, and my fear of empty chairs. Especially rocking chairs that move with a gust of wind or something. But that goes along with my fear of ghosts. For some reason I think that ghosts sit in chairs a lot or something.
