Water bottle solution

I have an AWESOME waterbottle in Chip's cage; it does not leak at all!!! I think it is an All Living Things brand, but i'm not positive.

I know you guys don't like Petsmart, but here is the picture.

Is this is bottle that have some sort of wire inside of valve instead of ball?

I have a blue from walmart and it leaks constantly. I ended up putting a sponge in a soapdish, fitted a piece of coroplast with holes in it. It absorbs the water and I change the sponge about every other day. I also bought a second smaller water bottle last night and a soap dish that closes so I can put a sponge in it as well and having my hubby drill small holes in it for the water to go in. So far this seems to be working

Yes it is. I think it is a good type of waterbottle.

Hello,

For some strange reason my pigges pee right under thier water bottle. I have changed it's location to see if that would help, but to no avail. So what i did was placed a bird cage pan (the removable pan from a bird cage), filled with with their cage shavings and i change it every day. I do this everyday in the morning so that there isn't any shavings that will go funky. I've manged to deal with 2 issues with 1 solution (potty training and leaky bottle). I don't find that they are chewing the pan (granted its buried most of the way). And it keeps the cage fresh and dry.

I use a concrete paving stone from home depot under my water bottle. It absorbs the liquid and there is no changing sponges, shavings or anything. It works great and I got the idea from a thread on this site. I whole-heartedly praise the individual who mentioned it! No clean-up, no mess, and a nice cool place for them to hang out too!

LOVE IT!!!

My water bottle leaks as well. Has anyone found one that does not? We have personally been through different sizes, holders and manufacturers. Just spent $13.00 on one from Earl May. Doesn't seem to be as bad--has no ball in the water tube, instead it has some wire type thing. Easy to fill and clean as the top of the water bottle when hanging on the cage just slides off and also flips in half for easy feeling. What is the brick that was mentioned to soak up the drips? Is it just a normal red brick or something special? Thanks for the advice and info. in advance.

I have this one and it is horrible. Only 2 pigs in the cage and the bottle will be empty in under 8 hours. It is 32 oz. Looking for a better one.

I would think that as long as it's unglazed, the terra cotta version of this would work as well. If it's for a 2nd level, what does anyone think about one of those ulta-absorbent stone coasters that are made of stone?

yes it is a simple concrete stepping stone - no glaze or anything. People use them for patios or walkways. The one I have is about 12"x6" & 1" thick.

I think the stone coaster is a great idea but it doesn't sound big enough. It also isn't very heavy and the buns could push it around. That's why I finally got a nice heavy stone.

I've been using a small terra cotta plant pot base, turned upside down under the water bottle. It's small, was cheap, absorbs the drips and is easy to clean. Because I turn it over, I've had no 'potty' issues.
