The vet visit went very well. Both girls are in fine shape and are exactly the right weight. I liked the doc a lot and he had lots of good advice, much of it I had read here. He stressed the importance of good pellets and lots and lots of good Timothy hay, explaining the cavy "gut" to me in detail. The one thing he did say was that veggies are good, but not at the expense of eating the pellets. And warned not to feed the kale my girls were raised on due to the oxalates. He did a quick nail trim, but said the nails were in decent shape and did not need too much trimmed off. He even opened their mouths to show me their teeth. YIKES, I had not dared do that since the girls don't know me too well yet. Heavens, if they bit they could really do some damage ! The doc even came out while I was paying the bill to give me a few more pointers. He had a great sense of humor and got a kick out of the fact that I named the girls after my childhood imaginary friends ! Cost was $20 each and I thought that was very reasonable for all the time he spent with me and the girls.
