[GuineaPigCages.com] Veggies photo shoot!Milou is wondering what to choose and Roza of course eating first!!!!

Iugin, do you piggies like kiwi fruit? I've never thought of trying it but so far my girls won't eat any fruit except oranges and grapefruit.

Well they don't go nuts..they eat it when everything else thats in the plate have finished!Mine don't eat orange..They love apple though!

It's funny how they like different things. My girls both like and dislike the exact same things so I wonder if they just take their cues from each other. I've had many pigs before that loved apples but these two won't touch them.

mine won't eat apple or oranges, but they love watermelon! I don't give it too them too often though

Milou is my first piggie. When i got her she didn't touch peppers, all kinds of peppers!!!I litterely begged her to eat just one little piece! And she didn't!When i got Roza and put pepper in the plate she began to popcorning like crazy! And from then Milou started to eat peppers!!!So i believe they take cues from each other!

how do you figuire out how much to feed them? I'm getting two male guinea pigs and I'm not sure how much I should feed them veggie wise per day. I know I should aim for a cup, but when you're talking lettuce leafs that isn't overly helpful :p Your piggies are so cute.

Aw, what cute photos! Neither of my piggies is big on fruit. I've tried banana, strawberries, oranges, apples, and grapes (Amy will eat grapes, but not Borat). I guess it's just as well, since they're high in sugar, but I'd like to use 'em for an occasional treat. The only fruit they like is dried oranges, which I had left over from when I had Mufasa and didn't know any better. I know they're not the best thing, so I give them in small doses and both love to chew them down to nothingness.

I give them about a cup divided in two_One half in the morning and one in late afternoon.About the lettuce i give the one leaf or one and a half every 2 days.Thank you!when are you getting yours?

I give them one slice of kiwi every 3-4 days. And one strawbbery every 2 days.Ciliantro every day and pepper. One big piece diveded in 4 in the morning and one in the afternoon, red, green and yellow.Since now i haven't notice something going wrong with the amounds..I hope i am doing right!!!

I think Ly&pigs (The guinea pig nutrition lady on the boards) once said a cup was like a handful with your fingers slightly spread apart. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about things being super precise. If it looks like a cup, I'll go with it. I was worried about this too until a while ago.

AM

That's an example of what I would feed 2 pigs in one day? Does that seem like to much? I'm getting them in TEN days, I am so excited. My menu changes everyday though, another example is :

Cilantro- 6 sprigs
Romaine/Leaf Lettuce- 2 leaves
Cucumber- 1/2 inch chunk

Bell pepper-orange- 1/4 pepper
Bell pepper- yellow- 1/4 pepper

PM
Celery- 4 inch piece
Bell pepper-green- 1/4 pepper
Apple- 1/4 an apple
Peppermint leaves- 5 leaves

thoughts? I appreciate any feed back.
